  • What does Amazon do with ‘Undeliverable Packages’?

Occasionally packages are returned to Amazon as ‘undeliverable.’ Since they can’t re-ship orders that have been returned to them, when a carrier returns a package as undeliverable they will issue you a full refund, including the delivery costs.

Due to the following reasons, a package might be returned as undeliverable;

  • Failed delivery attempts: If the carrier cannot successfully deliver your order after striving delivery, or by leaving the package in a safe place, the delivery assistant will leave a ‘missed you’ card with details about when and where you can get the package. If you fail to receive the package per the details in the ‘missed you’ card, the package will be turned to them as undeliverable.
  • Incorrect address: If the address is not updated or incorrect, the package will typically be returned to Amazon by the carrier or the unintended receiver. You are suggested to double-check the address, mainly when setting your order. For more knowledge about editing, deleting and adding addresses from your Address Book click on Add & Manage Addresses.
  • Illegible address: In exceptional cases, address labels may become impossible to read in transition. If that happens, a carrier will return the package to Amazon.
  • Package refused by the gift recipient: A gift recipient who isn’t expecting a gift may reject a package if they believe it’s being given to them by mistake. In this case, they will refund the gift purchaser and let them know by e-mail. If you want to put a new order for the gift, you may want to let the recipient know that a surprise is on the way.
  • Broken in transit: If a package is broken or damaged while it’s on its way to you the carrier may return it without attempting to deliver.

Note: If you want to purchase the items in a package that’s been turned down to Amazon as “undeliverable” you will be required to place a new order.

You can also print or save an electronic copy of an invoice or order summary for any of the orders sold on amazon.com.au. But you need to keep in mind that amazon.com.au order summary is not a tax invoice.

  2. Depending on which seller you placed your order with, you can choose to perform one of the listed below tasks;

 

  • If you passed an order for a product sold and completed by Amazon Au, you would see an option to ‘Print Invoice.’ You would also see the option to print an ‘Order Summary.’
  • If you placed an order via a 3P or third-party seller, an invoice would be available for your order, and you will only be able to print the “order Summary.’ If you require an invoice, you will have to contact the 3P seller directly to request for one.
  • If you have placed an order with Amazon Global Store or with the 3P seller for a product which has a customs value of $1,000 AU or less shipped from overseas an invoice will be generated for your order with details of the GST applied. You will likewise be able to print an Order Summary.
  • If you placed an order with the 3P seller for a product which has a customs value of more than $1,000 AU and is shipped from overseas, an invoice would not be available for your order, and you will only be able to print the Order Summary. If you want a bill, you will need to contact the 3P seller directly to get one.

 

  • How to cancel items or orders?

You can cancel your items or orders by visiting the ‘Your Orders’ section in your account.

To cancel a particular item or an entire order; simply go to your orders and then click on the ‘Cancel Items.’

  • For orders which are sold and fulfilled by a third-party seller only, you would just get 30 minutes to make any changes in your order. Even after 30 minutes, you would still be able to request a cancellation by clicking on the link ‘Contact Seller’ button and choosing the ‘Cancellation Request’ from the drop-down menu.
  • In case the order has already entered the dispatch process, it will not be cancelled now.
  • Now select the checkbox placed next to each item you wish to remove from the order. If you want to cut the entire order, choose all the items.
  • Click on; Cancel Checked Items’ when finished

After submitting your cancellation, they will send you a confirmation message to your registered email address on your account. You can also confirm if your order has been cancelled or not from your account. If you find the order in the ‘Cancelled Orders’ list, it was successfully cancelled.

If your order was sold and fulfilled by the Amazon AU or sold by a 3P and fulfilled by Amazon AU and cannot be amended, you can refuse the parcel or return it using Amazon Australia’s Returns Support Centre.
