Dodo Overview

Dodo is one of the largest telecommunications companies in Australia. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of M2 Group Ltd, which acquired Dodo on May 1, 2013.  Founded in September 2001; the company’s mission is to be able to deliver value for money and market-leading products to its customers.

Dodo serves residential consumers and corporate markets in Australia.  Dodo Australia offers an extensive array and full range of services to its customers including Wireless Broadband, VOIP services, NBN, Mobile, Mobile Broadband, Home Phone, Insurance, Electricity, Gas, and TV.

The company’s vision is to offer its customers effective and excellent solutions with competitive prices, providing Australians with diverse choices and value for money. This award-winning company bagged the Gold Medal for Best Home Broadband for the >200 GB Category in Your Money Magazine in 2012.

Dodo is divided into several distinct divisions: Internet, Mobile, Home Phone, TV, and Power and Gas. Dodo Power and Gas has services available in the following territories: Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, and South-East Queensland only.  This licensed Australian energy provider gives electricity and gas to households, with economic features such as pay-on-time discounts and easy payment options.

Dodo’s founder and Chief Executive Officer is Larry Kestelman. He is also the Founder and Principal of Oxygen Ventures and also serves as Chairman of Melbourne Tigers Basketball Club Limited. Kestelman reaped about $150 million when M2 telecommunications acquired Dodo in 2013.

Dodo Customer Service

Dodo customer service includes a special accounts page for each subscriber.  This is available through a web browser or customers can also download the Dodo customer service app on Google Play or the App Store.

Dodo’s internet services include the Dodo NBN plans, ADSL2+ Broadband, and Mobile Broadband.   ADSL2+ Broadband plans can be unlimited at $29.90 per month or customers enjoy 50 GB at $24.90 per month.  Dodo broadband plans users are able to get No Peak or Off Peak Limits, Perfect for streaming, Great Value call pack add-ons, and flexible contract options. There are four ways to get connected to a Dodo broadband plan.  First off, interested customers can sign up online, they can go to Dodo Connect Kiosks, they can do Live Chat Online, or give Dodo customer service a call at 13 DODO.

Dodo offers two entertainment bundle deals for the whole family.  Australian families are now able to enjoy family entertainment with unlimited channels and streaming with Fetch, along with unlimited Dodo broadband. The ADSL2+ with Fetch bundle, which is $49.90 per month, has unlimited ADSL Data, 1 channel pack, 24-month contract, and a leased modem.  The NBN + Fetch Bundle, which costs $79.90 per month, has the following inclusions: unlimited NBN data, 1channel pack, 24-month contract, and a leased modem. There are various channel packs available for both bundles, which include channels for kids, lifestyle, variety, and knowledge.

Dodo customers can select from three NBN plans: 10 GB, which is $28.90 per month, 50 GB, which is $39.90 per month, and Unlimited, which is $59.90 per month.  All plans have no charge for the NBN ready modem rental.  NBN plans offer three-speed options: 12/1 Mbps, 25/5 Mbps and 100/40 Mbps.  The 12 Mbps speed is available on all plans and it is an entry level option for light users.  The 25 Mbps is for those who stream and download content. For the ultimate gaming and streaming experience, customers opt for the 100 Mbps speed choice.

For their mobile plans, Dodo offers both postpaid and prepaid plans for customers.  Customers can choose from 24-month plans, 12-month plans, or even 1-month plans.  Post-paid customers can also choose from 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, or 12GB data plans. They can also select from two speeds: 3G or 4G.  The Multi-SIM plan allows 1 SIM to be placed on up to 5 devices with additional SIMs charged at $20, plus $5 per month.

For the Dodo mobile prepaid plan, customers have an option to select a starter pack SIM card that includes a 3G HSDPA USB Modem for $40.00 upfront payment.  There are several top-ups that customers can choose from, with usage based on data. Dodo also offers 4G mobile plans with 24 and 12-month contract options. There are three available plans with the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus: Mobile 4G small, Mobile 4G medium, and Mobile 4G large.  Each has progressively bigger mobile data, unlimited SMS and MMS, and cost of excess data at $12 per GB.

Dodo also offers its customers home phone plans.  Home Phone plans can either be the 24-month contract or month-to-month contract.  The Dodo Phone Anywhere app allows customers to make voice and video calls, send instant messages and share files anywhere.

Dodo Power and Gas abides by a special customer charter, which covers the rights and regulations of customers regarding contract commencement and termination, cancellation of the contract, expiration of the contract, moving house, changes to prices, rates and tariffs, billing information, payment options, and credit management.

As an additional service to its customers, Dodo Gas and Power recently introduced its newest promo entitled Hour of Power.  With no lock-in contract, customers can avail of 30% electricity usage rate and 20% off gas usage rates.

Dodo offers various insurance products such as car insurance, home and contents insurance, travel insurance, and roadside assistance. The standard benefits of car insurance are included such as new car replacement, emergency transport and overnight accommodation, debris removal, lump sum or instalment payments, and many others. Home and Contents insurance includes coverage for lightning, earthquake, fire, explosion, temporary accommodation, and much more. Travel insurance covers delayed luggage allowance, hospital cash allowance, travel delay expenses, and much more.
